Blaming Others

“To Cain and his offering, [the LORD] paid no heed. Cain became furious and depressed. The LORD said to Cain: ‘Why are you so furious? Why are you depressed? ...’ Cain said to his brother Abel. When they were in the fields, Cain rose up against his brother Abel, and killed him.’” (Genesis 4:5-8)

What did Cain tell Abel that prompted him to kill his brother? Cain related the LORD’s admonishments to Abel. However, after doing so, he then blamed Abel for causing the LORD to pay no heed to his offering [since it did not compare to Abel’s]. This feeling of frustration gnawed at him and intensified his anger until they went back out into the fields to work, where Cain killed his brother Abel—(Radak).
