High Mountain

“Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them.” (Matthew 4:8)

The term “high mountain” is used figuratively.  It means the high point in human physical aspiration.  This temptation was a far greater one than the previous two.  This is because...deception, negative thought— anything contrary to the truth—offered Jesus the greatest rewards known to man in order to beguile him, and thus divert him from his great mission...
