2 Peter 3:11-12, Isaiah 24:1,3,19, and Revelation 21:1 are often cited as proof by those who believe that the earth will be totally destroyed and wiped of all inhabitants.
Scripture cannot contradict Scripture, therefore there must be a solution to these passages since it is also clear that "[One] generation passeth away, and [another] generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever." (Ecclesiastes 1:4)
