The Forgiveness of Sins

The basis of forgiveness seems to me to be repentance. When we approach the Father for forgiveness, do we expect Him to forgive without our first repenting of the sin? Of course not.

Luke 17:3 reads, “If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent forgive him. And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn to thee again, saying, I repent, thou shalt forgive him.”
