Two Interpretations: Saved in Childbearing

“Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing.” (1 Timothy 2:15)

We have known Bible readers who have taken this verse to be a sort of guarantee that Christian women will survive successfully the dangers of childbirth. Unfortunately it happens occasionally that facts are against them. In any case, the word “saved” in the New Testament is applied almost exclusively to spiritual or Divine salvation, and we ought to seek an interpretation of 1 Timothy 2:15 which retains this use of the word.
