Did Signify of Christ

Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. (1 Peter 1:10-11)

Once again we find that we have a misleading translation. The words “of Christ” should come after “signify,” the passage reading thus, “. . . the Spirit which was in them did signify of Christ.” The Spirit referred to is the Holy Spirit, for as Peter says in his second Epistle, 1:21, “. . . holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.”
