Do the Scriptures Teach the Existence of Christ Prior to His Birth?

The human mind is incapable of understanding to the fullest extent the might and majesty of God. Be that as it may, all that pertains to God is logical. “We have not followed cunningly devised fables.” Jesus Christ was the Son of God. He therefore proceeded from God and must have been begotten of Him. Could he then have been “eternally begotten” as declared in the Church creed? In all reverence we ask whether that which was begotten could have been in existence as long as the One from Whom he was begotten?

Not only was Christ the Son of God, but he was the seed of the Woman. Now the woman was not created until the sixth day. Either Jesus was not the seed of the woman (as the Scriptures declare him to have been) or he could not have taken part in the creation of the world as some assert that he did, for a seed cannot exist before its parent.

Moreover Moses declared to the Israelites, “The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me,” (Deuteronomy 18:15). He was referring to the Messiah who should come, but he did not speak of this future Prophet as descending from heaven, but as being raised up a ad as being like unto himself.
