Malicious Accuser

διάβολος (diabolos) was used of slanderous or malicious accusation.

In the LXX it is used with or without the article of a single person, like the Heb. שָׂטָן, Satan; and צר, Tsar. See 1 Chronicles 21:1. Esther 7:4, 8:1. Psalms 109:6 (LXX, 109:6). (See Numbers 22:22, where opposition is the meaning without implying accusation of any kind.)
