There appears to be a discordance between two parallel passages, one in Matthew 26 and the other in Mark 14, in respect to Judas’ wages for betraying Jesus.
Matthew 26:15 reads “And they covenanted with him [Judas] for thirty pieces of silver.” Undoubtedly the Jewish leaders paid Judas the money then and there. In contrast, Mark’s version says, “And when they heard [it], they were glad, and promised to give him money” (verse 11). Yet Judas was in possession of the thirty pieces of silver a short time after this.
