To Fight a War or Not

“Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek...” (Exodus 17:9)

The Jewish people fought two battles on their way from Egypt to Mount Sinai: The battle with Egypt and the battle with Amalek. With regard to the battle with Egypt, God commanded them: “God will ?ght for you and you shall be silent.” With regard to the battle with Amalek, though Moses, God commanded them, “Go forth and ?ght Amalek.”

What is the difference between the two wars? Why did God ?ght the Egyptians Himself, but commanded the Jews to go out and do battle with Amalek?
