“The people that were born in the wilderness were NOT circumcised.” (Joshua 5:5)
One wonders just why the Israelites did not observe the rite of circumcision during the 40 years in the wilderness. It is clear from Joshua 5:5 that all male Israelites were circumcised in Egypt, despite the abject home conditions which must have been attendant on the people’s slavery, and one would have thought that the conditions of home life in the wilderness would certainly not have been worse than those the Israelites had endured in Egypt.
