All Your Household, All Your Children: Baptized All?

“The promise is unto you and to your children.” (Acts 2:39)

This verse is not infrequently cited by those who defend infant baptism as being evidence that children were admitted to the Christian Church in the 1st Century. They also refer us to Acts 16:33, where the Philippian jailer and “all his” are recorded as being baptized by Paul and Silas. It is insisted that “all his” refers to the jailer’s wife and children, some of the latter being quite young, probably.
