“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning, with God. . . . And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only-begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth.” (John 1:1, 14)
It is common knowledge that the Greek term translated “Word” in these verses is logos, a word which occurs more than 300 times in the New Testament, and—apart from its uses in the above verses—is always translated “word” (small “w”), and correctly so, as will be seen from the following examples of the use of logos.
Matthew 8:8—“Speak the word (logos) only, and my servant shall be healed.”
